Upon arrival at Faial Airport, you are transferred to Horta, a charming little coastal town famed for its bustling marina, colourful murals, and historic architecture. Known as the traditional gateway for sailors crossing the Atlantic, Horta offers a lively yet relaxed atmosphere, centered around the iconic "Peter Café", a must-visit meeting point for travellers worldwide.
After settling in, take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront and enjoy views across the channel to majestic Pico Mountain. For those seeking activity, hike up Monte da Guia, a volcanic hill offering panoramic views over the city, bay, and surrounding islands. At the summit, explore the peaceful nature reserve and small chapel overlooking the ocean — a perfect introduction to the natural beauty and tranquillity of Faial Island.

This morning, transfer to Horta Marina for the ferry to São Jorge Island, known for its dramatic cliffs and lush landscapes. Upon arrival, your driver will take you to the "Reserva Florestal das Sete Fontes", where your scenic walk begins.
After breakfast, transfer to Pico das Calderinhas to begin a São Jorge hiking adventure along the island’s volcanic crest. The trail passes several peaks before reaching Pico da Esperança, the island’s highest point at 1,053 metres above sea level, where panoramic views of the island and the Atlantic Ocean await.

Upon arrival, your driver takes you to Madalena to drop off your luggage before starting today’s scenic hike. The trail follows Pico’s southern coast, passing charming fishing villages where swimming is possible, and winds through vineyards growing in lava rock, a traditional cultivation method recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The route stays close to the Atlantic Ocean, offering stunning ocean views along an easy-to-follow, partially marked path.
Today, embark on an unforgettable Pico Mountain hike, ascending Portugal’s highest peak at 2 351 metres above sea level.
