Trekking in Santo Antão - guest reviews

Linda & Allen - January 2026

" Mostly relied on gpx files, which were great in most cases, as the paths were very clear.
The base mapping that we used though sometimes thought the path was a parallel one, most obvious between Boca de Figueiral and Junta, where we were meant to take the road but the the gpx file found a parallel path. Clear routes, well thought out, even when you had to arrange for alternative accomodation. Very happy to stay the night at Pica de Cruz.
Dinner and lunch at the REsidencial Mite were really good, unfortunately, the water in the bathroom was not fowing, so had to use shared bathroom, but this was kept very clean.
It was all superb. The walking was magnificent and the choice of hotels was good.
Thank you very much for organising a great holiday ! "

My husband and I have just returned from a superb holiday in Cape Verde. We usually organise our holidays ourselves but were really pleasantly surprised how well Intura were able organise our walking holiday for us in Sao Antao. The choice of routes was excellent, the taxi support efficient, the hotels/guest houses great and welcoming and the food typical of the region (lots of tasty fish and pork, but the traditional amount of carbs and rice a little overwhelming!). We tended to use the gpx files rather than the road book, and these were excellent. Thanks very much to the Intura team for a well organised trip. "

Susan & Peter - November 2025

Gpx files were great. The written instructions were not always that clear. Very easy to communicate with the local guys and pick ups and collections worked well. Especially as we changed our itinerary due to the weather. The highlights for us : Scenery, food and we loved the people. Would you recommend Intura Travel : Yes and Yes "

The destination experts

This is rated a challenging walking trip due to the elevation gain on each hike. You ascend and descend every day, so make sure to have good, comfortable walking boots and walking poles. The higher you climb, the more impressive the view! Not for the faint hearted, but a fantastic trip for experienced walkers. Staying with the locals is a real highlight. The Cape Verdeans are extremely warm & welcoming. A great walking holiday on both a physical and human level.
