  • INSURANCE
. As you are travelling abroad, it is your responsibility to have an adequate valid travel insurance
. Bring a copy of it, and please forward us all information (company name, contract number, and international 7/7 assistance contact)

  • WEATHER
. As the archipelago is located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and in the anticyclonic zone of the same name, the temperatures are fairly mild and constant throughout the year between 14° in winter and 25° in summer. However, the temperature felt can vary according to the humidity level, which is always quite high in the archipelago.
. The weather can change quickly in the same day and it is very common to have all 4 seasons in 24 hours! So always remember to go out with glasses, hat and a rain jacket.
. From November to March, there can be long periods of bad weather with heavy rain or even storms. It is therefore preferable to plan your trip between April and October to benefit from more stable weather (but even in July and August showers can occur!).
. We recommend the weather websites: http://www.meteociel.fr/ + name of the town

  • ELECTRICITY
. Voltage: 220-240V. We recommend you check if you require an adaptor for your electrical items on:http://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/

  • MOBILE PHONE & INTERNET
. For the UE members: since June 2017, a European traveler with a cell package in his home country can use his mobile phone at national rate in the 27 countries of the European Union without fear of having his bill skyrocket. However, limits are set by operators to avoid any excess use. The agreement signed between the EU and its telephone operators also concerns the consumption of 3G or 4G internet data, the volume of which can be used at no extra cost depending on the price of the national package (please inquire).
. For other nationalities, please contact your operator before leaving.
. Alternatively, you can buy a sim card upon your arrival in Madeira to get on the local network.

  • MONEY MATTERS – TIPPING – CLOSING TIME
. The Azores are part of Portugal and therefore part of the €uros zone.
. ATM are available all over the island and card is accepted in most shops and hotels.
. Tipping is not included in the restaurants / bars. Tipping is entirely voluntary and should be dependent on good service.
