Today, you will enjoy the experience of cycling in Provence and kayaking on the river in Isle sur la Sorgue. A great combination of activities for a perfectly relaxed and easy way to discover this part of Provence with friends and family !

The bike ride starts in the charming town of Isle sur la Sorgue, the antiques capital of Provence, also known as the "Little Provence Venice". You start your cycling holiday on small roads leading into the heart of the countryside, all the way to the perched hamlet of Saumane. Then, you arrive in Fontaine de Vaucluse, famous for its mysterious spring. You visit the pretty village with a beautiful greenish-blue river running through and enjoy a restaurant lunch.  After lunch, you bike to Lagnes and descend the clear emerald coloured Sorgue river by kayak back to Isle sur la Sorgue.
This day trip combines the multi activity of biking and kayaking in a picturesque and authentic Luberon countryside : a perfect Provence day trip holiday!

  • Bike ride - Isle > Saumane > Fontaine de Vaucluse
    1 hour 30 - 20km / 12.5 miles - Ascent: +200 m / Descent: -190 m
  • You meet your guide at the bike shop in Isle. You quickly exit the town and head towards farmland: ancient farmhouses are set by apple and pear orchards, and vineyards. Completely off the beaten-path and devoid of hills, your guide will lead you on tiny seldom-used roads. You climb up to the charming village of Saumane, perched on its rock, with its small Romanesque church, narrow streets and dry stone houses
  • You ride to Fontaine de Vaucluse, famous for its mysterious and impressive spring that flows at the foot of a 230m high cliff: it is the first in France, and one of the largest in the world by its volume of water. Its emerald-green waters are generally cool and peaceful during spring and summer and bubbling and impetuous in autumn and winter.  You visit the village of Fontaine : the paper making mill dating back to the fifteenth century, the lovely gardens of Petrarque, the ruins of the castle. If you have time, you can visit the museum dedicated to the traditionnals "santons of Provence" with more than 2000 santons of all sizes (entrance fee not included)
  • Kayak descent - 1 hour 30 to 2 hours
You descend the clear emerald coloured Sorgue river by canoe-kayak back to Isle sur la Sorgue.   Transfer back to the start of your kayak descent. You pick up your bike and cycle all the way back to Isle by 4 to 5pm
