" All great walks ! Had to change itinerary due to weather - owner of Auberge Val Casterino very helpful in suggesting what route best for weather conditions. We stayed in Fleur des Alpes in La Bridge and Auberge Val Casterino in Casterino. They were both fantastic. Really well looked after. I can highly recommend both of them. Very impressed with their kind hospitality. We ate at both hotels we stayed in and they offered varied and delicious meals each time. They were both extremely attentive and generous in catering to our special diets
All our walks and the accommodation were a highlight !

Now, before we go any further, you really do need to be a seasoned hiker to appreciate this walking holiday. It’s long walks, steep climbs and high altitude, but as the old saying goes… no pain, no gain! Actually, there is very little pain involved, just a whole lot of gain. The views on the walking paths are simply breathtaking, particularly when reaching the mountain lakes. The Mercantour Park is renowned for it’s incredible fauna and flora so for any botanist enthusiasts, this is the trip for you! The cherry on the cake is the 3 nights stay in the Chamois d’Or. Perched at 1550m (5085ft), this chalet hotel is everything you would expect of a mountain retreat : cosy, welcoming, comfortable and peaceful. Hard to believe that the glitz and glamour of the French Riviera is within walking distance!
