Provence day trip: Mont Ventoux cycling - Challenging
About the cycling guided day trip in the Luberon
- Road bike included ( Contact us if you wish a Hybrid bike )
- E-Bike sup : Contact us
Today you are climbing the giant of Provence, the "Everest" of every cyclist : the Mont Ventoux. 21 km of climbing and a vertical mile of altitude gain. Have a look at our page dedicated to the Mont Ventoux. It's on the top of every amateur cyclist's bucket list: Ventoux. Touted as one of the most difficult climb in France, the scenery is as grandiose and the biking is tough.
Your guide leads you through the cherry orchards: a gradual section before the real climbing begins. Through a forest of cedar and then beech, a relentless section of 10km at almost 10% grade will ensure that you’re using the easiest gear on your bike. The forested section ends abruptly at the Chalet Reynard, where the famous lunar moonscape begins. The iconic tower that sits defiantly at the summit is only 6km farther, but it never seems to get closer as you continue upwards to the summit. Panoramic view on the whole Provence and on the Alps mountains at the top !
Two possible descent options:
- via Malaucène
- via the spectacular Nesque Gorge.
- Loop Ride
. Option 1 - Bedoin > Mont Ventoux > Malaucene > Bedoin
56km / 34.7 miles - Ascent: +1600 m / Descent: -1600 m

- Depending on our pace, you will be back in Bedoin and finished by 4 to 5 pm

The ride
- Mont Ventoux is arguably the toughest thing you can do on a bike in France.
It's only suitable for those who are fit, and used to sustained high-intensity cardio exercise, lasting several hour sat a time, and preferably cycling experience on very hilly terrain. - We strongly recommend using E-bikes to make the riding more accessible to less experienced riders (with a supplement): we can also provide you with a E-road bike
