Hiking in Provence: Luberon walks and medieval villages - guest reviews

Kirsten - March 2026

" I was pleasantly surprised at the diversity between walks even though we covered a relatively small geographical area. We experienced so many different landscapes, it was awesome. We covered some really rocky ground, especially downhill. We were all really glad we had our walking poles and we could take our time. But the views were well worth the effort both up and down! The length of the walks was perfect- gave us plenty of time to get where we were going without a rush and to still have time to get cleaned up for a relaxing apero before finding dinner.
We all really liked having 2 nights at the 3 places along the walk. Seguins and Romarins were both outstanding. The view and rooms at Romarins were lovely- too bad the mistral kept us from enjoying their patio more! I'm so glad we were able to get into Seguins- it was busy and it was a real highlight for the food and the setting. Nevons has a great location and very pleasant staff but is showing its age, while Cantosorgue was opposite- nicely redone but a bit of a walk to town.
The walks were great, perfect distance and diversity of landscapes. The taxi drivers were very friendly and had some good tips for us, like reminding us to walk up the gorge at Fontaine de Vaucluse. We felt very well prepared with the gpx routes and the road book info. I had always wanted to do an inn to inn trip and this exceeded my expectations, and I got to do it with wonderful friends. Glad we packed the puffy coats and hats though, that mistral is no joke! Glad we had warmer weather and little wind after the first couple of days.
Thanks again for a great experience! I usually plan trips myself, but with 6 of us, and none of us wanting to carry packs, a tour was the way to go. I'm so glad I found this one! The walk distances and the overall price were perfect for our energy and money budgets. The Luberon was a delight."

Brian - March 2026

" Beautiful scenery and just the right level of difficulty for our group. BB Seguins was an amazing place and a great experience staying in that beautiful setting. The only thing lacking was very little protein at breakfast. It is hard to get out hiking on pure carbs. Otherwise great! We had a small problem at Le Cesar, where they put us in the wrong room and then yelled at us about it (even slammed a door on us), but we were very impressed that we contacted you and you solved it very quickly for us.
I would suggest to hikers to bring protein bars or similar since French breakfasts often have little or no protein. Eating out is pretty expensive in France and the cost does add up over the course of the trip.
The highlights for us : The stunning scenery and old towns.
Yes, we may well travel with you again and definitely would recommend you to friends.
We had a fabulous trip! It was our first time having a company handle our bookings, transfers, etc. and we felt it was a good value. It was nice not to have to worry about any of that"

Christine & Zoltan - March 2026

" What a wonderful experience, we are so completely happy that we chose your company. Everything was flawless (even when I ‘broke’ the booking platform, once again I am sorry). Luggage transfers perfect, hotel check-ins seamless - there was a problem in Bonnieux, however you straightened it out so quickly. Thank you. We look forward to experiencing another one of your adventures soon. Highly, highly recommended"

Matthew & Debra - March 2026

" All the walks were diverse and interesting. Each day better than the last. The food at Seguins Boux was excellent. All other breakfasts were good. The two nights at Auberge Seguins was very nice. The loop to the top of the mountain was very good. The walk through the Cedar trees was very nice. All views on the trip we're spectacular. The proprietor at Le Cesar in Bonniuex wasn't very welcoming.
Thank you for the very well organised hiking trip. The amount of information given is excellent. Well done Nadia!"

Kysrten & Brian - April 2026

" Bryan and I are still traveling in Provence, so we will fill out the survey when we return home next week. Meanwhile though, I wanted to let you know that I had been dreaming of an inn to inn hiking trip for years and this trip was everything I had hoped for and more. I cannot overstate how much I appreciated you handing the situation at Cesar in Bonnieux so quickly so that none of us had to worry about it for a minute more. We are all looking at where  we can go with Intura next! "

Mary & Steven - April 2026

" This is just a quick update to let you know that we are enjoying ourselves and appreciating the arrangements you have made for us.  Today was the 4th on our Intura adventure in the Luberon.
We had a lovely walk from Lacoste, where Jean Marie dropped us off at our request this morning. I’m sure you have heard that we also shortened the hike to Gordes, having been dropped off by Fabien in Cabrières-d’Avignon.  We were sorry to miss out on the longer hikes, but decided it would be better for us to start our week at an easier pace.
The three hotels we have stayed in, including the Clos du Buis, where we are now, are truly charming and beautifully situated, with friendly and staff.
The picnic lunches have been delicious and so healthy too.
Our warmest thanks for your efforts on our behalf.  "

Robert & friends - April 2025

the book was excellent in terms of getting us from place to place. We did the whole series of walks with the instructions alone and didn't need to resort to the map files on our phones. The routes were very good. Not too many paved roads, a nice variety of terrain and scenery. Your describing the walks as easy to moderate was an accurate assessment of the difficulty. This was important to us all being over 70 years of age. The towns we visited were all worth seeing. the trip highlights for us : Gordes, Le Coste, Bonnieux and Auberge Sequin. Also the rain that had been forecast for that week didn't appear.
I would like to thank Martha in particular for suggesting going to Auberge Sequin. We had not included that in our original itinerary but Martha urged us to seriously consider that leg of the walk so we did. It was definitely a major highlight."

Robert & friends - April 2025

The company was really easy to work with regarding changes with the transportation or hotel reservations. The landscape was phenomenal and the walks very satisfying. Loved going down into BB Seguins. Would you travel again with Intura Travel and would you recommend us to your friends ? yes !"

Gillian - April 2025

Clear instructions guiding the walks. Very good service and interesting walks.
Would you travel again with Intura Travel and would you recommend us to your friends ? yes and yes. "

Sabine & Brian - Sept 2024

It was all wonderful! BB Seguins had lots of guests. The rooms are a bit shabby and need repairs, but the food was excellent. The highlights : Bonnieux and Gordes, Walking along the roads between the fields of olive trees and vineyards. We enjoyed the entire experience. We hope to travel with Intura again sometime in the future."

Marylin & Friends - October 2024

" All directions were clear and pretty well precise. GPS info used on the trail was very helpful. The highlights for me : visiting the small medieval villages !
Yes, I would recommend Intura Travel and travel again with them."

Emilie & Maurice - June 2023

" I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the wonderful job you did designing our trip and taking care of the extra items we asked for. The trip was fantastic. The itinerary was a great combination of villages and trails. The lodgings were from good to excellent and the lunches were delicious (and more than enough for each of us!). Your additional attention to our requests for lodging, transfers, restaurant reservations and information was greatly appreciated. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely and will promote you and Intura’s trips whenever we get the chance. Merci beaucoup! "

Anny & John - May 2023

" We had a lovely time in Provence. The highlights for us : Walking on ancient routes in wooded country away from traffic & tarmac roads. The BB Seguins is ‘hugely different’ but fun. More like a commune for ‘outdoor lovers’ than a hotel.
Very impressed so well organised, hotels, cabs, bags etc.. no problems at all !!! Yes would recommend Intura. We were incredibly impressed that our taxi pick ups were on time and at right place. Very exceptional."

Jackie & Kate - Sept 2022

" I loved the walks! The only suggestion I have is that I think you should emphasize how challenging some of the climbs and descents are and how helpful walking poles are. Especially for your older walkers, the poles are very helpful. I am 70 years old and couldn't have managed without my poles!
We loved every one of the accommodations! The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious !
Everything! We were very lucky with the weather. It was absolutely perfect every day. The scenery was amazing, especially the mountains. We also loved visiting the small towns, finding little shops and restaurants. We always found wonderful places to explore and excellent places to eat. The whole experience was incredible! Thank you!
I would definitely use Intura again. Right now, I don't know where my next destination will be.
Thank you, Nadia. You have been so very helpful and accessible. We felt very secure knowing you would be available if we needed any help"

Roland & Catherine - April 2022

" The trip highlights for us : Breakfast on the terrace of the Hotel des Romarins in Gordes with a delicious breakfast and fabulous views. Visiting the medieval villages and walking in the countryside with the profuse and varied wild flowers, even though we were too early for the lavender. "

Josep & Ritva - April 2022

" The trip highlights have been : the hôtel des Romarins, the perched villages. The picnics :  excellents.
Every day was a new surprise. Congratulations for the punctuality of the transfers. Thank you  !"

Gary & Judy - May 2019

"We were thrilled with all of our accommodations! So many times accommodations do not live up to the photos posted on line. Without exception all of the places we stayed met or EXCEEDED our expectations based on the photos. The extra walking distance to Maison Valvert was a bit concerning, as it is quite a distance from the center of the Bonnieux - but worth the walk. We took your recommendtion and ate at The Outsider in Gordes: one of the best meals we had in Provence, plus we loved that it is in an old water cistern.
We really enjoyed your points of interest such as the sun dial maker along one of our walks. We also really liked Buoux and Sivergues because they were exactly what we were wanting to see - cobblestone villages unspoiled by tourism. We also really enjoyed exploring the Roman fort at Buoux and 'discovering' the secret staircase that reminded us of scenes of Mordor from the movie Lord of the Rings. Saignon was a favorite too - so picturesque and authentic - we even saw a game of bocce ball being played in the town park.
would you recommend us to your friends ? Yes, yes yes!!!!"

Sam & Alison - October 2018

"The two restaurants included in the package were both terrific. Gordes was terrific and, of course, since it is perched above the village the views are fabulous and the garden welcoming. In Bonnieux, the hotel is simply fabulous. We had a great time and I loved it.  But, it is a fairly vigorous itinerary and, I suspect, not for everyone".

Michael & Susan - October 2018

"All of the places we stayed had great people running them and the rooms were lovely. The beds were great which is important after a day of walking. We enjoyed all of the food (and the wine!!) in the Luberon. We only wish we could find that here at home! Yes if we can find the right trip and we would recommend you."

Lynn & Janet - May 2018

"  It was fantastic. Our accommodation, rooms, facilities absolutely wonderful. Our hosts in each place truely made our stay more memorable, we could not fault the accommodation at all. Special mention to Etienne at Le Balcons du Luberon and Michael and Sabin at Les Terrasses du Luberon. And La Prevote in Sorgue was so, so lovely. All three offered something different, but we loved each of them and we’re not disappointed we chose that category of accommodation. Approaching the towns of Gordes and Saignon - very spectacular - was a real highlight. We would come back, if this was a trip we wanted to do again. "

Deborah and her 7 friends - April 2018

"  The walks were outstanding, everything we could have wished for and more. The special highlights for us are the scenery, the markets, the walking and the wonderful food. All of the accommodations were good. The B & B in Gordes was perfect in every way--the views, the gardens and the delicious breakfasts. The Terrasses du Luberon was also outstanding, thanks in large part to Michael and Sabine, who are the best hosts we had on the trip. Greetings to the Walk Inn Provence team! And thank you for everything you did to create one of the most memorable trips imaginable. All 8 of us had a wonderful experience and I would recommend your company without reservation to anyone. "

David & Navah - Nov 2017

"We had a lovely time in Provence. We want to thank you very much for the good planning, willing service, and excellent choices. As you tried to prepare us, travelling in November is indeed a different experience. Provence is lovely, with lovely special autumn colors, fresh air, a bit on the cold side. Very quiet and peaceful. Our hosts and taxi driver were great: warm, friendly and helpful. The booklets with the walking instructions and the maps were easy to follow. The Auberge des Seguin is stunning don't let people miss it because of internet-cellphone addiction. We had a great time. "

Collen & friends - Sept 2017

"Overall, we had a great adventure and would like to repeat it during a moderate hike in September next year. Etienne at Les Balcons in Gordes provided an outstanding meal, our favourite of the trip!! Laurent, our host at Domaine de Tilleuls, and his wife were the epitome of graceful owners which was much appreciated after our (bad) experience at Les Geraniums! Shopping in Les Baux was excellent for a tourist town as the sales were outstanding in September. We would have liked an extra day in Vaison La Romaine to explore the ruins and shop. The transfers went well: the drivers were first rate, friendly and knowledgeable! We all appreciated Nadia: her/your effort was most helpful! Yes, we would recommend Walk Inn! If you have a similar moderate hike, we would like to know about it. Thanks for everything"

Peter & Gail – Sept 2017

"The whole trip was wonderful ! Seeing the town in the distance and watching as it grew closer, the outdoor café once we arrived, going to the market or the bakery for the next day, it was the perfect vacation."

Bee & Abdi - June 2017

“Balcons du Luberon is an outstanding BB and Eitienne was exceptionally warm, friendly & helpful. Being a chef, the dinner and breakfast were superb! The setting & scenery deep inside the Aiguebrun Gorge was truly spectacular & beautiful. Everywhere, we were greeted with "bonjour"! We enjoyed many gastronomic meals and delicious wine. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and for the most part enjoyed the walk, seeing the beautiful countryside, meeting wonderful locals and the warm culture of Provence. “

Ann & Robert - May 2017

“All the villages we visited had a unique quality that made them very interesting. The couple of La Borie were very nice and could not provide enough. La Maison Valvert was a lovely place to stay. The people were very friendly, the grounds were lovely and there was a place to get together and chat at the end of the day. It was a nice place to have the three nights. We found Nadia and the other people helping us at WalkInn to be excellent. You were flexible when you needed to be and always helpful. For us, the walk was not easy - although we felt very good about doing it. It was challenging. We would travel again with Walk Inn and would certainly recommend you to our friends.“

Robyn & Graeme - May 2017

“Our group enjoyed the challenges of the walks and especially enjoyed our time with local people in the BB's and the villages. The scenery was spectacular; our BB hosts were welcoming especially Cathie and Pierre at Maison Valvert and Norah who was standing in for her parents at Chambre avec Vue. We appreciated close contact with local communities as we walked - preferable to guided tours. Thank you for your advice and guidance throughout our time while planning our trip with you. You and the rest of your staff were most helpful.Provence is a very beautiful part of France and we saw it at its very best We will definitely recommend your company to others.“

David & Nancy - April 2017

“We had a great time on our trip. The road book provided an excellent description of all the trails and was easy to follow. The hotels were excellent with friendly staff. The dinner cooked and provided at Bastide du Jas in Saignon was exceptional. Thank you very much for all your help. Maybe we will work together again.”

Sonya & Helen – Sept 2016

“Too many highlights to mention. The trip was incredible. The walk were beautiful and our favourite hotel was Mas de La Beaume in Gordes. The attention to detail was amazing and the peacefulness was second to none. The final day walk from Auberge de Seguins to Saignon was probably our favourite and the town of Saignon was one of the most enchanting places we have ever seen. We also loved Auberge de Seguins. We found the accommodation fine. It was very rustic and simple but clean and spacious and in keeping with the atmosphere of the place. Would love to walk with you again one day and have already recommended you to friends»

Rebecca & Sarah - June 2016

“I enjoyed the historical information along the walks (la mur de peste, Lacoste, etc.) It was nice to see the farmers harvesting the cherries as we walked by. We very much enjoyed our time in Gordes. The restaurants, sights and accommodation were all wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay at La Borie, the room and view were all beautiful and the breakfast was amazing. The hosts were also a perfect combination of friendly and respectful of our privacy. Sarah particularly enjoyed the walk to the Abbey de Senanque. Thank you for communicating Sarah's gluten free requirements. La Borie and La Canove went out of their way to ensure that she had enough gluten free items to eat. This was greatly appreciated before we started long days of walking. Thank you for the excellent service. Although we never spoke or saw you, we felt well taken care of and confident that you would be there to help us if needed"

Jeff & Ann - June 2016

"The highlights for us were: Isle sur La Sorgue and its market, the walks from Fontaine to Gordes, Gordes to Goult, Bonnieux to Auberge des Seguins, and Auberge to Saignon, the views from the top of Saignon. We did not do the walk from Goult to Bonnieux deciding to take a rest day instead. We loved all the accommodations and the pools at the end of a hot day hiking."

Alex & Danna - June 2016

"The highlights for us were: not knowing what we'd see ahead each day, not knowing the type of terrain each day, and not knowing where we were going to stay most of the days was the highlights because it was a treasure hunt with constant and wonderful surprises. Every day there were so many rewards for our hiking efforts and to have a pool at the end of an all day hike in the heat was one of the best rewards of all. We absolutely LOVED our entire hiking adventure and loved the wonderful places we stayed each night. We loved every place we stayed; could not have been any better!"

Barbara & friends - June 2016

“All 7 of us absolutely loved the trip. Your organisation was faultless. The road book provided excellent accurate information for all aspects of the walk. Careful reading of the track notes and directions provided a clear indication of the route. Accommodation was excellent, all places were very different, with their own charms, great variety, and interesting host ! We especially enjoyed La Borie in Gordes. Beautiful remote hiking place at the Auberge des Seguins and would rate the walk to and from there as the best days: what a stunny location ! Overall, an excellent experience, carefully organized and quality service. You have done an excellent job finding routes that keep us off the roads. You have spoilt us for anything but walking ! Thank you so much for providing us such a wonderful walking holiday”

Marjorie - May 2016

“The whole tour from start to the end was beyond our expectations. We loved every aspect of the trip. We sincerely thank you for your fantastic organization of the trip and making it such a memorable one for us ! We would definitely go through Walk Inn for future trips, and would recommend your organisation to others”

Elena & Judith - April 2016

“We loved our trip! Enjoyed having time to see villages. The walking distance were just right. We loved not having restaurants organizes every night as we like as we liked eating a lighter meal sometimes”

Bonita & Wallace - Oct 2015

“This was our first self-guided walking tour. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The travel kit was quite complete. Each hill town had its unique personality. Coming around a path and seeing Gordes for the first time was breathtaking. We loved the Auberge des Seguins experience. We opted to walk to the Fort de Buoux where we spent over an hour: amazing.. All the B&Bs were very nice but La Borie was our favorite and the breakfast was expansive and delicious. We will recommend WALKiNN to everyone”

Joseph & Frances - Sept 2015

“Thank you very much for such a memorable walk. We enjoyed it tremendously. Your assistance was appreciated and made it such a fun time for us. We will definitely recommend Walk Inn Provence to our friends.”

Andrew & Judith - May 2015

“Thank you for your expertise in arranging the walk. The instructions were outstanding. We had a wonderful time.”

Susan & John - May 2015

“Our week in the Luberon was magnifique in all aspects: the weather, the excellent guidebook, the very well chosen walking paths, the incredible scenery, the accommodation, the meals. We appreciate the excellent service we have received from Walk Inn Provence and will be happy to recommend your company to anyone seeking this kind of holiday. Un million mercis !!.”

Tineke & Graham - April 2015
