- From Madalena on Pico island, the outing is preceded by a briefing before boarding a 12 to 24-seater zodiac.
- Departure every day, twice a day at 9am and 2:30pm for about 3 hours. From June to September
- The Azores have become one of the most beautiful examples in terms of cetacean protection and the waters of the Azores are a real sanctuary from June to September, especially for sperm whales, Atlantic spotted dolphins with their newborn and the mysterious northern bottlenose whale.
No less than 27 species have been recorded around the islands, including migratory species and resident species. For a long time the archipelago lived off this very lucrative hunt. It was only in 1984 that whaling was banned. The era of the whalers is still present in the memory of the villagers and the look-outs, these small white huts perched on strategic points of the islands, are still used to spot a shadow lurking or a flipper... but for the delight of nature lovers, not hunting!
