Mercantour hiking: from the Southern Alps to the French Riviera trails - guest reviews

The Track finders !

"This trip is a complete discovery of the back country of the French Riviera, hiking on beautiful trails with jaw-dropping panoramas along the way. You will experience the genuine & authentic flavour of the mountain villages, famous for its french-italian cultures and its beautiful baroque churches. The perched village of Saint Agnes is one of the highest village in Europe. You will enjoy the comfort & relaxing ambiance at the end of the trip in Menton that is a beautiful coloured italian town : a perfect end to your walking holiday ! "

Simon & Mariese - Sept 2019

" We will recommend the walk. We enjoyed dinner at the St Yves in St Agnes and found family very helpful when luggage not collected. the special highlights for us were  the Chapel of Our Lady of the fountains at La Brigue and St Agnes. All the walks were pleasant. We met and remet some friendly fellow walkers, one group with Intura from Sweden with whom we enjoyed ongoing interaction.. We used INTURA previously for walk in the Luberon.  Would you recommend us to your friends ?  Yes ! "

Brenda - Oct 2018

"Great accommodation, great service with provision of great food. Each accommodation was different and interesting. Not for faint of heart or the 'occasional' walker - some of the days are tough - but offer incredible views and great rewards when your destination is reached. Would you travel again with Walk Inn, and would you recommend us to your friends ? Yes"

Nancy & Devon - May 2018

"  We really enjoy the variation and quality of the scenery and options en route. We really enjoy your trips through the small towns and villages. For us this is better than just being in the typical cities. As per our previous trip in Provence with you,  your help with completing the details of the trip was very helpful. For us, on a "self guided" tour, the best part was knowing that INTURA had covered all the bases and was there to help us if we ran into any troubles or had questions. We have already been discussing possible future trips with you and we have passed you name on to others but so far no one has taken us up on it."

Mari-Jo & Thomas - September 2017

“ We had an absolutely excellent time & really enjoyed every minute of the trip. The La Brigue to Tende loop and also the route from Sospel to St. Agnes - amazing. The fact that the routes were very quiet and not full of other hikers was a great bonus. The hotels were great and the picnic provided by the St. Yves on the last day was amazing & fed us for the whole day !! The travel guide book was also really excellent - myself & my husband would not be great at reading maps, so the info and trail description in the book was great for us. “

Edel & Dirk - August 2017

“The variation in the scenery from La Brigue to Menton was spectacular, especially as we took it day by day and could see the gradual difference as we descended through the Maritime Alps. Our favorite towns were St. Agnes and Menton. We did our one-week tour in June, with super weather both in the Alps and down on the coast. This was the perfect way to get away for one week, but feel like we had been on a two-week holiday - fresh air, exercise, good food and nothing to arrange or worry about. Thank you”

Tamara & Kenneth - June 2016

“We had great hikes with super weather ! Thanks for a lovely week in Provence.“

Anthony & Hazel - April 2016

“What a wonderful week walking through the Southern Alps to the French Riviera! The scenery is spectacular and the walk had its challenges with many ascents & descents but we made it and thoroughly enjoyed it! Hotels along the way were excellent with very friendly and helpful owners. Loved it, thanks WalkInn Provence!"

Susan & James - Oct 2015

“We had a very good time. Walk Inn Provence delivered everything that was promised. Everybody whom we encountered on the trip was helpful, provided excellent service, and was flexible to accommodate slight changes in our arrangements due to my spouse's sickness. I walked on the trails alone and felt completely comfortable and safe. Walking instructions were perfect. The hiking time predicted in the brushier was completely correct. The places I visited on my walks were remote enough to give a sense of the rural life in Southern France, which was a nice cultural experience. Southern slopes of Alps and Riviera are extremely beautiful..”

Martin - Sept 2015

“I just wanted to say a big thank you for organising the walking trip. It was a very beautiful six days that I will remember for a long time. The itineraries for each day were perfect with challenging, varied walking that gave me a great sense of achievement as well as some hard work! The overall structure of the walk from the mountains around Tende and La Brigue down to the coast was brilliant. The hotels were all welcoming and the arrangements smooth. I will definitely recommend this to others and hope one day to do another walk in Provence.”

Lucy & Mark - July 2015

“Just wanted to let you know we had a really good holiday in Provence and everything went very well. The scenery on the walks from La Brigue to Menton was wonderful and we had some good views of eagles and also thousands of butterflies. Thanks very much to Walk Inn team for all your arrangements for our holiday.”

Kirrily & Wenone - July 2015

"We enjoyed leaving tourists behind and the peaceful nature of having the trail largely to ourselves. Varied landscapes each day. Authentic village experiences. Luxury of having the details arranged for us."

Arthur & Kathleen - July 2015

“We really had a good time because of the most remote locations we visited. The highlights for us were the wild flowers and herbs, moths and butterflies in the mountains .. constantly amazing. And the scenery was spectacular. There is view point round the back of the church in Piene Haute which is incredible. A stunning view."

Lynn & Janice - May 2015

“We wanted to thank you for all your efforts setting up our walking vacation. It was all we hoped it would be. The accommodations were great. Our time in Provence was a terrific experience. Thank you again.”

Peter & Lorraine - Oct 2014

“Thanks for organising the trip – it went very smoothly and no problems with the guiding notes which were fantastic for all 6 walks we completed: all good, great hiking.”

Jack & Terry - June 2014

“Thank you for all your effort in accommodating our needs. We had a wonderful experience with Walk Inn, and would definitely do it again and recommend your tours to our friends.”

Anna - May 2014

“The highlights are the 2 days of hiking around La Brigue and all the hilltop and mountain views along the tour. Thoroughly enjoyed the planned tour. This was a real treat with great routes and places to stay in an area we knew nothing about” Thank you ever so much!”
