Day 1 - Arrival in Porto
Optional transfer to your accommodation in Porto, the capital of Northern Portugal.
Night: Porto
A Portuguese saying sums up this journey: "a small country with a great history". From Porto and the meanders of the Douro, this trip invites you to explore the diversity of Portuguese landscapes with a complete discovery of Portugal, from north to south, mainly by train and on foot.
The first part of the stay is dedicated to Porto and the Douro Valley: the hikes take you between quintas, vineyards, olive groves and terraced orchards. After a stop in Coimbra, a beautiful historic university city on the banks of the Mondego, head for Lisbon and the Sintra region, a lush green setting and a mecca of architecture.
The last stop is the Algarve, the homeland of the first great navigators, with its ochre cliffs plunging into the ocean. The whitewashed towns and villages of southern Portugal are popular stops for their gentle way of life.
From the sculpted banks of the Douro River to the stunning beaches and cliffs of the Algarve, Portugal reveals all its splendour and its most iconic cities: Porto, Coimbra, Lisbon and Faro.
