Day 1 - Bonjour Alsace: Arrival in Kaysersberg

Kaysersberg is easily accessible from Colmar by bus, with a convenient 30-minute journey. This makes it an ideal starting point for your Alsace mountain hiking adventure. Stroll through the charming streets of Kaysersberg to admire its beautiful half-timbered houses, then enjoy a delicious dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2 - From Kaysersberg to Lapoutroie: forest ascent, farm trails & rural Alsace charm

Day 3 - Hike from Le Bonhomme to Lapoutroie via Tête des Faux

After a short transfer to the mountain village of Le Bonhomme, begin a steady ascent along scenic trails leading to the Duchesne Cemetery, a poignant World War I memorial. Continue to the summit of Tête des Faux, named after the beech forest that once covered it ,where panoramic views unfold alongside well-preserved German bunkers—silent witnesses to fierce battles fought on this strategic ridge. Descend through peaceful woodland paths to the enchanting Étang du Devin, a legendary mountain pond offering picnic tables—perfect for a relaxing lunch stop. Day 5 - Hike the Petit Ballon loop: Alpine trails, summit views & Vosges scenery

This circular hike starts near Auberge du Ried and follows well-marked trails through forests and upland pastures to the summit of Petit Ballon (1,272m) — one of the most iconic peaks in the Vosges. While slightly lower than the Grand Ballon, the region’s highest point, Petit Ballon offers uninterrupted views over the Alsace plain and surrounding mountains. The descent passes several traditional farm inns and historical landmarks before returning to the start via quiet woodland paths. A varied and rewarding mid-mountain hike. Upon returning to Auberge du Ried, be sure to enjoy a classic local blueberry tart — a perfect way to conclude your day. Afterwards, a taxi transfer will be arranged to take you to the charming town of Turckheim along the Alsace Wine Route.
